EHS SPECIALIST in aviation industry

INTERNATIONAL AEROSPACE COATINGS CZECH REPUBLIC a.s. is looking for an employee for the position: EHS SPECIALIST. IAC is a world leader in the field of aircraft painting, interiors, and graphics. With 10 state-of-the-art facilities in the USA and Europe, IAC has the capacity for 36 aircraft lines and processes over 700 painting events annually. IAC operates in all segments of the aviation industry, including OEM, commercial, military, and general aviation. The European headquarters is located at Shannon Airport, County Clare, Ireland, with the American headquarters in Irvine, California.

Overview of the role

Ensure the Company is fully compliant with Czech Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) regulations, and in accordance with international best practices. Develops policies and procedures, conducts audits, implements corrective actions, KPI's, report writing provides training, liaise with internal and external stakeholders and external authorities.

The main duties and responsibilities include

Health & Safety

• Implementing and updating Health & Safety plans and procedures for the group as required.
• Update and maintain Health and Safety procedures and a comprehensive Safety Statement for the Group in compliance with Regulatory requirement.
• Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced.
• Conduct H&S Investigations.
• Advising Managers on Health & Safety initiatives relevant to their department.
• Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Authority (HSA) legislation and any developments that affect the industry.
• Improve the health and safety culture, through training and awareness.

Environmental

• Managing all aspects of company's compliance in line with statutory regulations.
• Monitoring all current and emerging EHS regulations and developing strategies/programs to ensure compliance.
• Developing and maintaining the company's EHS management systems and internal policies & procedures in accordance with standards such as ISO14001.
• Optimise and develop programs to reduce environmental, health and safety risks.
• Developing an in depth understanding of technical processes and methods used throughout company operations.
• Maintaining knowledge of the waste industry best practice and other standards in health and safety domains.
• Build an in-depth understanding of EHS operational practices and implement new systems and processes in an accurate, timely and efficient way.
• Evaluation of processes, systems and equipment for EHS impacts.
• Developing with site management, measures including, risk assessments and health & safety plans to assure personnel safety on site.
• Liaising with external authorities such as EPA, HAS, Local Authorities on EHS related matters and site visits, audits, accident investigations etc.
• Represent the Company during outside Agency Audits/Inspections.

Education, knowledge and experience

• Qualification in Safety, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a similar position.
• Professional competence in risk prevention according to Act No. 309/2006 Coll
• Good working knowledge and experience of Czech environmental, health and safety regulations/legislation.
• Experience with Environmental Management ISO 14001.

Competences

• Fluency/bilingual English and Czech is essential.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and EH&S systems.
• Experience of report writing, auditing and conducting investigations.
• Communication: excellent listening, written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills (ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with all stakeholders).
• Ability to work independently while being part of a larger team.
• A pragmatic approach, good analytical skills and results oriented.
• Excellent organization and time management; is organized and can prioritize business demands.
• Attention to detail and high level of reporting accuracy regarding all aspects of the role.
• Proactive, positive attitude, flexible and open to change, willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
